Shotgun

The shotgun sports program at RRPC offers skeet, trap, and "five stand" sporting clays to members and to the public. The shotgun fields are run by club member "work team" volunteers on Sunday afternoons from 1:30 PM - 5 PM for member and public shooting.

The skeet and trap fields are also open each Wednesday evening, DURING DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME ONLY, from 5 PM for members and guests. Wednesday evenings closing time is variable as limited by weather and interest.

Skeet and Trap are shot every Sunday throughout the year, weather allowing. "Five stand" is shot the second Sunday of the month on the trap field, from the second Sunday in April to the second Sunday in December.

Please see the monthly calendar for any "five stand" schedule changes. Cost for each "round" of 25 targets is $3.00 for non-club members, $2.00 for club members.

Basic guidelines for participating in Sunday skeet, trap, and five stand shooting are that the participant be familiar with the operation of the shotgun they will use and it's safe handling, and that the shotgun used be in good working condition. Some prior experience with shooting clay targets or hunting with a shotgun is also required. We welcome shooters new to the games of skeet and trap, and will orient you to the targets.

Due to Sundays' limited shooting time and in fairness to all participants' shooting opportunities, Sunday afternoons do not provide an environment for learning how to shoot a shotgun. Spectators are welcome, and we will do our best to accommodate everyone's shotgun interests.

Introductory shotgun classes are offered twice a year in the spring and fall.

If you have questions about the shotgun program at RRPC or are interested in learning, please stop by on any Sunday and talk to a work team member or contact us using the following directions:
