It’s frustrating to be at the range and realize that you don’t have something with you that you really want or need. The following list was compiled from several club members. You may not want all of these items but it is nice to see ideas.

What’s in your range bag?

Bare minimum: fob, ID badge, guns, ammo, targets, staple gun, eye and ear protection.

More stuff: extra staples, extra eye and ear protection, extra magazines, speed loader, lens cleaner, pen, paper, score sheets, extra batteries for electronic headset and sights, flashlight, tape, scissors, binoculars, Pocket Members’ Guide (lists range hours and rules), various targets – for 25, 50 & 100 yards, paper plates, stick-on, silhouette, explode-on-impact, tape-over-holes for extended target use.

Gun Care: gun tools, pocket gun cleaning kit, gun oil and rag, thin wooden dowel to clear squibs and jams.

Clothing: baseball cap, shooting gloves, shooting vest with recoil pad (for shotgun and high powered rifles).

Comfort: band-aids or mini-First Aid kit, tissues, eye drops, hand-warming packets, bug spray, sunscreen, lip balm, hand cleaning wipes, lotion, bottled water.

For ladies: safe pouch for storing jewelry, extra hair clip or band.

Clever tip: Bring ammo in different calibers so you can shoot other people’s guns!

Keep in car trunk: (range dependent) wooden target holder, metal target stand. You are responsible for providing ALL your targets and their holders!  (See Pocket Guide rules.)

Range Availability

Be sure to check Club Calendar for range availability for any given day.  Members may freely use ranges during normal hours of operation except when CLOSED by prior Board Approval for club or outside activities/events.  Such closures will always be indicated on the Club Calendar in dark red.

On rare occasions when the nearby church holds a special service, RRPC may close all ranges.  If possible such closures will be noted in advance on the website.

Lower Pistol Range

In order to preserve the metal target stands from damaging gunfire, targets may not be directly attached to them.  You must obtain and use a target holder/frame with these specifications.

Notice: Fully automatic guns may only be shot at club AFTER approval. To obtain this approval or for questions about your firearm’s suitability contact the Class 3 Committee.
