Membership

Eligibility and Requirements

In order to join and remain a member, you must:

  1. Be a citizen or legal permanent resident of the United States of America,
    18 years of age or older.
  2. Be a resident of the Commonwealth of Virgina, excepting with proof:
    • Active duty military personnel (must present your Orders), or
    • Out of state, full-time students attending a Virigina college (must present your current Virginia College Id).
  3. Be a member of the National Rifle Association.  Join the NRA here.
  4. Intend to always use guns safely and display good sportsmanship.
  5. Intend to be a productive, contributing member to the RRPC community.
  6. Be legally eligible to possess, transport or carry a firearm in Virginia, according to the Virginia Code; and notwithstanding possible age constraint, be legally eligible to obtain a Concealed Handgun Carry Permit in Virigina, as summarized here.

    If the Commonwealth of Virginia prohibits you from legally owning a gun, you may NOT be a member of the Rivanna Rifle & Pistol Club.

Procedures for Joining Club

  1. Download and read RRPC’s By-Laws, Policies & Procedures.
  2. Download Membership Application and complete.
  3. Come to your first Membership Meeting early at 6:30 pm, to meet with the Membership Committee, prior to the 7:30 pm start of the Membershp Meeting.  (Membership Meetings are on the second Thursday of the month. Check the Calendar for dates.) There you will be introduced to the club. Bring the following items to your first Membership Meeting:
    • Your completed Membership Application form,
    • Application payment (non-refundable, $50.00 check made payable to “RRPC, Inc.”),
    • Your NRA membership card, and
    • Proof that you may legally possess, transport or carry a firearm in Virginia; via either:
  4. Sign up for Work Party to complete your mandatory 4 hours before you may join.
  5. Complete your 4 hours work before next month's Membership Meeting, if possible.
  6. Your application will be voted on at your second Membership Meeting. If you are accepted, remit check for annual dues (currently $100.00 for Associate members, or $50.00 for Non-resident or Family members, prorated). You may purchase a fob ($10) after you've completed your work requirements.
  7. Before you may use club facilities, you must attend the mandatory Orientation session. These are held monthly on the Tuesday evening between the Membership and Board Meetings, from 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm in the clubhouse. Contact Orientation with any questions.
