- All new applicants MUST already be a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA). Your NRA membership must be current and your NRA membership number MUST be supplied to the membership committee before your application for membership will be processed.
- All new applicants shall have or have had a background check performed within a specific time period of applying for membership. Applicants can comply with this requirement automatically if they meet one of the following requirements.
- Provide a copy of your Virginia Concealed Carry Permit.
- Provide a copy of the documentation where you have purchased a firearm from an FFL dealer in the state of Virginia within the past twelve months maximum.
- If applicant is full time or reserve military, provide a copy of current assignment orders.
- If applicant is a member of any law enforcement agency (i.e. Albemarle or Charlottesville Police/Sheriff Departments, Correctional Facility Security, US Marshals, FBI, etc.)
If applicant does not meet any of the above requirements, you must have a Virginia State Police background check performed at your expense. The form must be returned to the membership committee for review and processing.
- All new applicants MUST provide four references.
REFERENCE REQUIREMENTS: Each reference submitted by the applicant must not be related to the applicant.
- A safety and a range orientation must be attended which is normally held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM.
- All new applicants must perform a minimum of four (4) hours of volunteer
work before they will be voted in as a new member.
- You must attend two membership meetings. Meetings are held the second Thursday of each month, except January. They begin at 7:30 PM in the clubhouse. Please check in with the membership committee in the main clubhouse prior to 7:30.
At the first meeting:
- You will be introduced to the membership. Your shooting interests, skills, and
other pertinent information will be read to the membership.
At the second meeting:
- You will be reintroduced and the membership in attendance will vote on
admission. If approved, membership becomes effective upon payment of the
prorated dues.

- Provide a copy of the following as applicable:
- Virginia Concealed Carry Permit
- Military Orders
- Documentation of purchasing a firearm from a Virginia FFL within the past six months.
- Virginia State Police Background Check form
- Copy of your current NRA membership card.
- Membership Application Fee – a check in the amount of $25 made out to RRPC.
- Mail all of these items in one envelope to the following address.

- Once you have mailed all of your documentation to the above address, you should attend the next scheduled membership meeting which is normally held the second Thursday of each month beginning at 7:30 P.M. You should get there a few minutes early to check in with the membership committee. You only need the completed application and the application fee to be introduced.
- Perform four hours of volunteer work.
- Attend the range and safety orientation.
- Attend second meeting to be voted in when steps 1 through 8 have been
completed.
Note: Membership Applications will be held for 90 days. The Membership Application Fee is not refundable.
Membership Dues: Annual dues are currently $100.00 which is prorated throughout the year.
