The Skeet and Trap fields are quite possibly the most utilized ranges at the Rivanna Rifle and Pistol Club. The shotgun sports program at RRPC offers skeet, trap, and "five stand" sporting clays to members, and to the public.
Range Rules:
- Skeet: Shotguns will be kept unloaded and the actions open when you are not on the firing station and ready to call for the target.
- Skeet: No shot size larger than #7 1/2 may be used.
- Trap: Actions will be kept open, even on stations, until the shooter ahead of you, in rotation, has fired.
- Trap: No shot size larger than #7 1/2 may be used.
- Trap and Skeet: In the event of a trap malfunction the shooter whose shotgun is loaded and ready to fire will unload and leave the action open, as will all other shooters on the line, until the problem with the trap has been cleared.
- Sporting Clays: Any and all pertinent sections of the Skeet and Trap regulations apply to Sporting Clays.
- The use of the same gun, or other equipment, by more than two shooters on the same squad is prohibited.
- Eye and ear protection must be worn during any live fire.
